The ContiSportContact 5 SUV is Continental's Street/Sport Truck Summer tire initially developed to match the sporty driving characteristics of Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche crossover vehicles. ContiSportContact 5 SUV tires are designed to offer short braking distances and good cornering traction in moderate to warm ambient temperatures. However, like all summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in near freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The ContiSportContact 5 SUV uses Continental's Black Chilli compound molded into an asymmetric tread design that features a macro-block outboard shoulder that adapts to the road surface to improve road grip and cornering stability. Four circumferential grooves channel water to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. A continuous center rib and notched intermediate ribs promote steering response and straight-line tracking.

Continental's Black Chilli compound's short-chain polymers react to braking forces by building heat to shorten braking distance on wet and dry roads, while the compound's long-chain polymers release the absorbed energy more efficiently at constant speeds to reduce rolling resistance. Thus, the tire stops faster and remains cooler for longer life and reduced fuel consumption.

The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide (a mixture of heat-resistant synthetic aramid fiber and nylon threads) that enhances the ride quality while tuning the contact area's vertical flexibility and lateral rigidity.

Limited sizes of the ContiSportContact 5 SUV are available with Continental's ContiSilent Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results.

The Geolandar X-CV is Yokohama's Crossover/SUV All-Season tire is developed for the drivers of powerful crossovers and SUVs, looking to enhance their vehicle"s handling without sacrificing comfort, wear or all-season capability, even in light snow.

An advanced, Silica End-Locked Polymer compound improves dispersion of the micro silica throughout the rubber matrix for wet performance while allowing the compound to remain pliable for high levels of snow traction. The asymmetric pattern features a Five Pitch Block Variation to reduce airborne noise for quiet ride comfort, and has specific zones for wet and dry performance, with the outboard shoulder and two inboard intermediate ribs focused on the dry, and the inboard shoulder and first intermediate rib optimized for wet conditions. The four wide, circumferential grooves improve wet braking and hydroplaning resistance, and a combination of 2D and 3D sipes enhance light snow traction.

The internal construction of the Geolandar X-CV consists of a single-ply polyester casing with a high turn up for two-ply sidewalls. The two wide, steel belts are reinforced by two nylon cap plies to aid handling and provide high-speed stability.

Treadwear Performance

N/A
N/A

Treadwear is vital to many things, not just how often the tires need replacement. Hydroplaning and wet weather are both critical factors that wear down your tire quickly. The warranty covers any defects in what you bought but only for a limited period or when there's minimal tread left on them.

Wet Perfomance

N/A
N/A

The wet performance score is a new thing that tire manufacturers are trying to achieve. The hydroplaning resistance, wet traction, and steering response all influence this new grading system.

Dry Perfomance

N/A
N/A

Tires with good dry performance should be able to perform smoothly and safely, even when cornering aggressively.

Comfort Perfomance

N/A
N/A

The comfort performance score is designed to measure the balance between ride quality and noise level.

Winter Performance

N/A
N/A

Winter Performance score helps us understand if the tire is the appropriate option for winter conditions that your vehicle will face. Dedicated winter tires provide a firm grip when driving through snow and on ice. Performance winter tires boast a higher speed rating and better handling but deliver modestly lower ice and snow traction.

Size
i

Tire size may be indicated in two formats:
– metric (P255/45R18 103H)
– high flotation (30x9.5 R15 104 F C)
In the metric system, P - stands for the passenger vehicles (LT - for Light Trucks, ST - Special Trailer) with a width of 255 millimeters, aspect ratio (sidewall height) equal to 45% of the tire height. R means it is radially constructed with a diameter of 18 inches. 103 denotes the tire's load index and H determines the speed rating.
In the high flotation system, the first number (30) is the overall diameter of the tire, the second number (9.5) is the width in inches.

420 AA A
520 A A
Max. load
i

The maximum weight that a tire can carry is the greatest amount of weight it's designed to bear. Because load carrying capability is dependent on a tire's size and construction, as well as how much air pressure is actually utilized, maximum loads are measured with the tire inflated to an industry standard inflation pressure.

105 (2039 lbs)
Max. speed
i

The maximum speed that a tire with this type of tread can safely travel for an extended amount of time is indicated by the tire speed rating, which is usually shown by a letter or two.

The highest "cold" inflation pressure that a tire is meant to contain is its maximum inflation pressure.
