Review
i

Read a detailed review of each tire if you are still hesitating which option you should choose.

The Azenis FK510 is Falken's Ultra High Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes, performance sedans and modern muscle cars who want dry and wet traction and handling in a refined package. The Azenis FK510 is designed to deliver driver confidence in warm conditions, so like all Ultra High Performance Summer tires, it is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Azenis FK510's 4D Nano Design tread compound is molded into an asymmetric, Adaptive Constant Pressure (ACP) pattern design. ACP improves distribution of pressure throughout the contact patch for enhanced directional stability and reduced stopping distances, and the wide, outboard shoulder blocks deliver the lateral grip required during performance driving. The tread compound was designed at the molecular level to optimize adhesion in wet conditions, and the Switchback Siping helps to maximize rubber-to-road contact during wet cornering. Four wide, circumferential grooves allow water to flow through the contact patch to resist hydroplaning.

Internal construction of the Azenis FK510 utilizes Falken's Tension Control Technology casing mold shape to provide a flexible middle sidewall area for reduced impact harshness and a rigid outside shoulder and bead area for handling capability. Its two wide, steel belts are reinforced by a hybrid Aramid and nylon undertread cap ply to provide added rigidity and high-speed stability.

Note: Ultra High Performance Summer tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Ultra High Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

The Ecsta PS91 is Kumho's Max Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of performance sedans, sports cars and sport coupes who want a tire with performance that matches the capabilities of their top-level automobiles. High-speed performance and handling in the dry and wet are emphasized, and like all summer tires, the Ecsta PS91 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Formula 3 racing tire technology trickles down to the mainstream in the Ecsta PS91 with a new Carbon Black and Silica compound utilizing Max Grip Performance Resin to create maximum performance potential. Handling, responsiveness and high-speed stability are emphasized through enhanced block stiffness created by the C-Cut 3D design and the notched, continuous center rib. The 3D Dimple Design heat dimples minimize thermal buildup in the tread blocks, improving durability during hard use. Four wide, circumferential grooves evacuate water from beneath the contact patch, increasing hydroplaning resistance and wet handling.

The internal construction consists of a strong, two-ply rayon cord casing supporting two wide, high-tensile strength steel belts. High-speed capability is further bolstered with two full-width nylon reinforcement cap plies for improved handling responsiveness, stability and durability.

How we score

Would You Recommend?

N/A

Treadwear Performance

N/A
5.2

Treadwear is vital to many things, not just how often the tires need replacement. Hydroplaning and wet weather are both critical factors that wear down your tire quickly. The warranty covers any defects in what you bought but only for a limited period or when there's minimal tread left on them.

Wet Perfomance

8.8
7.5

The wet performance score is a new thing that tire manufacturers are trying to achieve. The hydroplaning resistance, wet traction, and steering response all influence this new grading system.

Hydroplaning Resistance
i

The hydroplaning resistance is measured by the hydroplane depth test and the dynamic aquaplaning test, which measures how much water can be accumulated on the tire's surface before hydroplaning occurs.

8.8
7.5
Wet Traction
i

Wet traction estimates the level of grip on wet pavement. Tread design with deep grooves dramatically improves confidence when driving in the rain as they channel the water out much better.

8.7
7.5
Steering Response
i

The vehicle's steering response largely depends on the tread depth, tire width, air pressure, and aspect ratio. Wide high-performance tires are equipped with a continuous center rib providing instant steering response.

8.7
8.4

Dry Perfomance

8.8
8.5

Tires with good dry performance should be able to perform smoothly and safely, even when cornering aggressively.

Cornering Stability
i

A dynamic cornering test is often used to assess cornering stability under dry conditions.

8.9
8.6
Dry Traction
i

Dry traction level depends on many factors, including tread design, profile shape, and compounds.

8.9
8.6
Steering Response
i

The vehicle's steering response largely depends on the tread depth, tire width, air pressure, and aspect ratio. Wide high-performance tires are equipped with a continuous center rib providing instant steering response.

8.7
8.4

Comfort Perfomance

8.8
7.3

The comfort performance score is designed to measure the balance between ride quality and noise level.

Ride Quality
i

The excellent ride quality means you do not feel the bumps or cracks on the road. Larger tires with thick and deep tread patterns decrease the number of jolts allowing you to glide over bumpy road textures.

8.8
7.3
Noise
i

If you would enjoy a quiet chat with the passengers while children are sleeping or listening to music, not the sound of tires, definitely pay attention to the noise score.

8.8
7.3

Winter Performance

N/A
N/A

Winter Performance score helps us understand if the tire is the appropriate option for winter conditions that your vehicle will face. Dedicated winter tires provide a firm grip when driving through snow and on ice. Performance winter tires boast a higher speed rating and better handling but deliver modestly lower ice and snow traction.

Size
i

Tire size may be indicated in two formats:
– metric (P255/45R18 103H)
– high flotation (30x9.5 R15 104 F C)
In the metric system, P - stands for the passenger vehicles (LT - for Light Trucks, ST - Special Trailer) with a width of 255 millimeters, aspect ratio (sidewall height) equal to 45% of the tire height. R means it is radially constructed with a diameter of 18 inches. 103 denotes the tire's load index and H determines the speed rating.
In the high flotation system, the first number (30) is the overall diameter of the tire, the second number (9.5) is the width in inches.

Uniform Tire Quality Grade Standards (UTQG) were designed to offer consumers with useful information about the treadwear, traction, and temperature capabilities of their tires in order to make better decisions when purchasing new tires.

300 AA A
260 AA A
Max. load
i

The maximum weight that a tire can carry is the greatest amount of weight it's designed to bear. Because load carrying capability is dependent on a tire's size and construction, as well as how much air pressure is actually utilized, maximum loads are measured with the tire inflated to an industry standard inflation pressure.

92 (1390 lbs)
92 (1390 lbs)
Max. speed
i

The maximum speed that a tire with this type of tread can safely travel for an extended amount of time is indicated by the tire speed rating, which is usually shown by a letter or two.

Y
Y
Max inflation pressure
i

The highest "cold" inflation pressure that a tire is meant to contain is its maximum inflation pressure.

50 | 23
Tire weight

The tire weight is determined by the type and size of the tire. As the tread depth of the tire wears down over time, so does its weight.

Tires may be used on rims of varying widths while still fulfilling their intended function.

7.5-9""

The measuring rim width is the common industry minimum rim width at which a tire must be mounted to validate that it meets design specifications.

10.1/32""

Overall diam.
i

The overall diameter of a tire is the outer diameter of the tire, measured in the center of the tread. This measurement is made without any load placed on the tire and after it has been properly mounted on its industry-assigned measuring rim and inflated to its test pressure after 24 hours.

25.09
